An overview of our condition ratings
Brand new
These items are brand new and unused. We can usually reorder such items from the manufacturer (e.g. office chairs from Girsberger, lamps from Belux, etc.).
As good as new
Shelves
Our ‘as new’ furniture contains both new and second-hand components. Among other things, we assemble as-new USM Haller shelving units using second-hand structural parts (tubes and connectors) and brand-new or as-new metal elements. This means you receive furniture that is as good as new and looks the part, but costs less.
Tables
Tables in mint condition have second-hand bases and table legs – all carefully selected components from the current generation. These are paired with a newly fitted Fenix worktop, a newly veneered oak worktop or a brand-new synthetic resin worktop from USM. We can usually offer a large number of items in ‘as new’ condition, with the individual pieces differing only slightly from one another.
USM individual parts
USM Haller components in ‘as new’ condition are new, but cannot be declared as such as we hold them in stock. Therefore, the condition ‘as new’ applies here. We stock only original parts; these show no signs of wear and have never been fitted.
Upcycled
Shelves
For these shelving units, the surface elements (shelves, fronts, pull-out units) have been professionally stripped and recoated.

- Colour: Exclusively in pure white (RAL 9010) for a flawless finish.

Individual items
Our upcycled components are original USM Haller metal elements (shelves, fronts, pull-out shelves) which are first completely stripped using a specialised process and then given a high-quality new coating.
This process has been tested and officially approved by USM. To guarantee our high quality standards and absolute colour accuracy, we offer this service exclusively in pure white (RAL 9010). As other colour shades may result in minimal differences in pigmentation or light reflection, we do not offer other colours in the interests of consistent quality assurance.
With our upcycled components, you receive metal elements that look as good as new whilst giving existing resources a new lease of life – sustainable and uncompromising in quality.
Top-Occasion
Shelves
This furniture consists of a second-hand frame that has been cleaned and is in good, attractive condition. We inspect the metal components and internal fittings before assembling them. Any components that do not meet our standards are not used. Parts with slight signs of wear are positioned where they are not noticeable, so that only the top-quality elements are visible. This furniture is often upgraded with new cover panels and outer walls. It is in very good condition and is often mistaken for new furniture. No signs of wear are visible from a distance of one metre.
Tables
These USM tables are of such high quality that everyone describes them as ‘top condition’. At most, there are minimal signs of wear that can only be spotted upon very close inspection. They have been cleaned and have no chips, flaws or discolouration. The table legs are always from the new generation (with a single screw) and have been fitted with new leg caps.
Second-hand
Shelves
These USM shelving units are second-hand, some of which are slightly older and may contain components from an earlier generation (e.g. doors with twist handles). They are mostly one-off items with normal signs of wear. We have inspected and refurbished them; everything is in perfect working order. Defective components have been replaced.
Tables
These items are second-hand, some from an older generation (table legs with two screws). These are tables with few signs of wear. They may have the occasional small chip, scratch or shiny patch (e.g. caused by mouse use). Nevertheless, the table is in excellent condition and can be used without any issues in offices or public areas.
As seen
Shelves
In this category, we resell USM Haller furniture exactly as we purchased it. Rather than letting this furniture gather dust in our warehouse until we find the time to refurbish it, we offer it to customers who are looking for furniture for their garage or cellar. This is also an option for customers who wish to refurbish the furniture themselves. The ‘as is’ furniture is neither checked, cleaned nor refurbished. However, we do our best to accurately describe its condition in the description and in the photos. This furniture may have functional and aesthetic defects, such as:
- Missing metal parts or keys
- Items from various generations and in different colours
- Light to heavy soiling, adhesive residue
- Dents, bumps and scratches
- Defective pull-outs
As we do not invest any time in refurbishment, we are able to offer these items at a significantly lower price. We accept no warranty or liability; the purchase is ‘as is’, and no complaints will be accepted.
Second-hand
Tables
As our categories mentioned above (As New, Top Second-hand and Second-hand) meet very high standards, we have recently started offering tables that show more noticeable signs of wear, such as chips, noticeable scratches or discolouration. This allows us to compete on price with offers on online platforms, whilst offering you the advantage that VAT is clearly stated and that you have the option to return the tables should you not be satisfied with your purchase.
USM individual parts
Second-hand USM Haller individual parts, such as second-hand fronts, metal elements, tubes, etc., show normal to heavy signs of wear. With fronts and metal elements in particular, you should be aware that these may show heavy signs of wear. Scratches, dents, bumps, adhesive residue, scuff marks, etc. However, they are not faulty. Many of our customers buy these for areas out of sight or to refurbish them themselves. For visible areas, we recommend new or as-new individual parts.
Everything else
We also use the condition ‘Second-hand’ for all second-hand items that are not USM shelves, tables or individual parts (e.g. lamps, chairs, wastepaper baskets). The condition is specified in more detail in the item description. Common descriptions include: ‘minor signs of wear appropriate for its age’, ‘leather with a patina’ or ‘generally in good condition’. Unless otherwise specified, there is nothing to complain about.
